About Today Readings

Colossians 1:24 – 2:3. In God is my safety and my glory – Psalm 61(62):6-7, 9. Luke 6:6-11.

Is it against the law on the Sabbath to save life?

St Paul explains to his readers the reason for his labours and his suffering: to bring the good news of God’s gift of Christ, unknown since time began, to those who were thought to be beyond God’s care (the non-Jewish people). He seeks to bring everyone into the right relationship with God (‘perfect in Christ’). What goal do you spend your efforts on? What gift is it you wish to impart to those around you? What is your modest contribution to God’s project to be each one’s friend? With Paul, rejoice as you work for God and with God.
