The kingdom of God is here, now

It’s easy to miss what’s right under our nose. We often imagine God’s presence as something beyond our experience or perhaps in a future moment. However, Jesus turns this on its head, proclaiming ‘the kingdom of God is among you’. Perhaps we plan or wait for perfect conditions to invite God into our lives, but he shows up when we are dropping kids to school, washing dishes, and waiting behind that slow driver in peak hour. God’s kingdom isn’t delayed, it just requires another way of seeing. In the busyness and distraction of modern life it’s easy to walk past grace, with our heads turned towards screens and our thoughts a thousand miles away. But grace still manages to break through in a child’s laugh, the warmth of sunlight on tired skin or the quiet strength of someone who suffers well. In these moments, God is not distant. He is astonishingly close, and the challenge isn’t to find him elsewhere, it’s to notice his presence today.
