Love God with all our heart, soul and strength
In the First Reading, we hear of a sacrilegious party, with the king and his guests worshipping idols of ‘gold and silver, of bronze and iron, of wood and stone’.
It is easy for us to side with Daniel as outsiders of this party and consider the king and his people great fools. Yet when we inspect our own hearts, we may have some unexpected ‘idols’ there.
How much of our day do we think about our finances? How about celebrity media? Going to the gym to look our best? What are the sacrifices we are making in our day, and before which altar are we placing them?
Today, let’s spend some time in meditation and prayer, reminding ourselves that we have a God who is burning with love for us. Let us love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind.
